But Doesn’t Disney Own Them?

Bleeding Through Kingdoms: Cinderella’s Rebellion utilizes some of the most notable fairy tale characters ever created. When I was writing the book, I often heard the question, “doesn’t Disney own those characters?” Ah, what amazing things fame can do to the human brain.
As for Disney, they have most definitely cornered the market, but the answer is no. Disney does not own the characters that appear in quite a few of their most famous films. They do not own Cinderella. They do not own Snow White. They do own the likenesses of these characters that they have created, but as for the characters themselves, Disney plucked them, just as I did, out of the public domain. They belong to every one of us to do with as we would like.
And so I did.
