Though it is the only one that I was stupid enough to self-publish, BTK: Cinderella’s Rebellion, is not the only book I have written. The first novel I wrote was a coming-of-age novel about a popular high school girl’s intense feelings for the most unpopular girl in school. I’m still proud of it. The other novel is my personal attempt to understand the roots of terrorism and bring it down to a human level. I just read the first four chapters again. I should really get it off to a publisher.
I have been avoiding sending my work to publishing companies, because I don’t like the fact that they can force changes to your writing that may or may not be in line with what’s in your soul. But clearly, self-publishing is no way to sell fiction.

I have probably read Bleeding Through Kingdoms: Cinderella’s Rebellion a hundred times since I first wrote it. I read it again and again while doing re-writes. I read it again and again for purposes of proofreading. I read it before my first bookstore appearance to pick the excerpt I wanted to read. Since then, I have read it several more times for several different reasons.
The main reason I have read it again and again though?
I like it.

Whatever it is you would rather be doing than working, and we all have something, if you can find a way to do it without getting fired, do it. That may be the key to surviving work life. Now if, for instance, mountain climbing is your one great love, I wouldn’t recommend scaling your cubicle wall. You will get caught, that’s guaranteed, and you may get a trip of the hospital to go along with your pink slip. However, for some of us, our loves are a bit easier to sneak in without being detected. I sneak writing all the time at work, getting paid for my time while doing it, and utilizing company equipment. If you, like me, are a cool ninja rebel, my secrets may serve you well. Coming soon, I will be highlighting some of my favorite ways to sneak in writing while I am supposed to be working. Keep an eye out.

Would better prizes make this a more intriguing contest? Like what if I said you could have a date with a Playboy model? What about $1,000? What about a trip to New York and a mad shopping spree down Fifth Avenue? Okay. You could have a date with a Playboy model, $1,000, or a trip to NY and a mad shopping spree down Fifth Avenue. I’m not going to give it to you, but anything is possible.
